Adam West, a.k.a Bat Man aged 88 died on Friday in Los Angeles. He surrendered to Leukaemia which he battled with for a short period of time.
Adam West, who began his acting career in the 50's starred as bat man in the famous TV series between 1966-1968.
According to the family's spokesperson “Our dad always saw himself as The Bright Knight , and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans ’ lives. He was and always will be our hero . ”
West is survived by his wife, Marcelle, six children, five grand children and two great grand children.
Encomiums has continued to pour in for this legendary actor via social media, many of which are from veteran actors and actresses. The US defence department also tweeted their tribute, describing him as "our hero long before the cape."
