In an effort to protect the abuse of the Naira, The Central
Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has criminalized the act of spraying currencies in social
gatherings in the country.
The bill which was signed in to law in 2007mduring the
administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo prescribed six month imprisonment
and/or 50,000 fine for offenders.
On Wednesday, the CBN said the law enforcement agencies were
responsible for the ineffectiveness in the law. The CBN deputy governor in
charge of operations, Mr. Tunde Lemo who was ably represented by the deputy
project leed, shared services office, Mr. Eme Elemu, said “ CBN is a regulatory
institution; it is not a law enforcement agency. You know it is criminal to
spray money in Nigeria, yet nobody has been arrested by law enforcement
agencies for spraying money. We can’t do EFCC’s job. We are playing our role;
let others play their own too”
this is fantastic
